Headteacher Welcome
Dear Parent,
It gives me great pleasure to present to you some information about Crwys Primary School. Thank you for taking the time to find out what our school is all about.
Crwys is a very caring environment where pupils feel happy, safe and thoroughly enjoy their learning. The school enjoys great success and we are very proud of our enviable reputation both locally and nationally, which was highlighted in our recent Estyn inspection. Such high expectations ensures that pupils, parents, staff, the local authority and the Community are proud of their association with the school.
Our greatest pride are our pupils. They show very positive attitudes to their learning, participating eagerly with high levels of engagement, motivation and interest in their work, while staff work hard to provide exciting and varied learning experiences which ensure that all our pupils ‘Be all they can be’.
Outdoor learning is very important to our ethos. We are Swansea’s first Outdoor School and every one of our pupils spend at least half a day a week outdoors. Estyn reported that ‘the use of outdoor learning to enhance pupils’ attitudes to learning and improve their wellbeing is excellent and this ensures that pupils are developing into confident learners.” As a result, this has been shared as ‘excellent practice’ with others within the teaching profession, a great compliment to the school.
Environmental education and sustainability is also very important to our school. We have been awarded the highest accolade; The Eco Schools’ Platinum Award, as well as being one of the first schools in Wales to be awarded the Surfers Against Sewage, Plastic Free School’s award.
It is a school of which I am extremely proud and privileged to be involved with!
