School Dinners
UNCRC – Article 24 – Your right to good food and water
Lunch runs from 11:50am until 12:50pm each day. Pupils sit in their classes in the school hall for lunch. In the Summer months, older pupils have the option of eating their packed lunches on the school picnic benches outside.
All food is prepared for the children on site and staff are expected to follow Swansea County Council healthy eating guidelines.
During break times we have a ‘fruit only’ policy. Pupils are also encouraged to stay hydrated and are asked to bring in water bottles which can be refilled at our water fountain. Pupils are expected to drink water only.
We ask parents of children who bring a packed lunch to school to make every effort to ensure that the packed lunch contains a healthy eating and drinking selection. This is consistent with our Health Promoting Policy.

Free School Meals - Thanks to a Welsh Government initiative, all Primary aged pupils can receive Free School Meals
-
Food allergies are becoming increasingly common among children and we currently have a number of pupils who have a severe allergy to nuts and sesame – any exposure to these items, even a tiny amount, could be potentially very serious and life-threatening.
-
As a safe school environment for all our pupils is of paramount importance to us, we kindly ask that you help us by following these simple suggestions:
- Please avoid sending foods that contain nuts/sesame, such as peanut butter or nutella sandwiches, muesli or health bars with nuts, hummus.
- Please remind your child not to share his/her food with other pupils.
- Please wash your child’s face and hands before they leave home, especially if they have eaten nuts or nut containing foods prior to coming to school.
- Please always contact the class teacher before sending any food for sharing with the class for celebrations such as birthdays.
